West Coast Wild Scallops is run by a small fishing family who fish and sell wild swimming scallops caught on the west coast of Comox Valley. Their harvesting method is sustainable and environmentally friendly, and are known for their Pink and Spiny scallops. These are two wild species of scallops, commonly known as 'Swimming', 'Pink', or 'Singing' scallops. They are significantly smaller than the species commonly eaten, but this is why they are bursting with flavour and have a beautiful shell! - It’s what makes them truly unique.
West Coast Wild Scallops is a proud partner of the Ocean Wise seafood program and their scallops are recommended by Ocean Wise.
Like mussels or clams, the scallops are sold in the shell, and can be eaten cooked or raw. The whole animal is eaten, as opposed to just the ‘adductor’ muscle like most scallops. They are frozen individually so you can easily take out only what you want for your meal, leaving the rest frozen for another time.
Sold whole, frozen in the shell, in a 2 lb box. There are approximately 15 to 20 scallops per pound.
Cold Smoked Scallops
These are a ready to eat product and are great on their own, as an appy, in a salad and warmed up in a pasta dish. They have been professional smoked at St. Jeans Cannery, a local cannery in Nanaimo, BC!
Sold in 113 g packages. Vacuum-packed and frozen. Approximately 25-40 pieces in each package.
